Charlie’s Angels

Plot Synopsis

Thanks to mysterious billionaire Charlie Townsend, three beautiful women get a chance to escape their checkered pasts. Under the watchful eye of their handler, Bosley (Ramon Rodriguez), Kate (Annie Ilonzeh), Abby (Rachael Taylor) and Eve (Minka Kelly) work for the exclusive Townsend Detective Agency and tackle dangerous cases. It is based on the original television series from the 70s – Charlie’s Angels.

My Thoughts

Being a fan of the original television series from the 70s, I was actually looking forward to this show. I must say ABC is not aiming very high with this reboot. The show is nothing more than a lot of eye candy. I was hoping the original story would be told in a different way but that is not the case here. The other thing that bothered me was the pace of the show. With the premise, you would look for a fast-paced, action-packed storyline but it is not. The main thing that the show lacks is the humor that the original series as well as the movies carried. In the past, Bosley used to provide some comic relief but here he has been reduced to a womanizing young man. I was expecting much more from the show. If you have nothing else to do, you can watch it. It is easy mindless viewing. Though, I don’t know how long it will survive as it is slotted at 8 PM on Thursdays this fall. Which means it is up against shows like ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘The Vampire Diaries’, ‘X Factor and ‘Community’, which might affect its ratings.

  1. Good to see another show in ‘Mad Men’ league in terms of the visual style, costumes, props etc – should be interesting.

When are they expected to start airing if finalized? This Fall?

  2. Alcatraz : Hope the plot is extensive enough. Look forward to it!

  3. Person of Interest:

Will watch it just for Michael Emerson.

Yet another great fit in the role of (probably) a middle manager getting things done (probably for someone higher in authority).
